Bhushan Kodibagkar:

What is your Enterprise Architecture ? What should be your Enterprise Architecture ? Are we saying that the broad term of Enterprise Architecture comprise of processes that help organizations get from point A to point B ? Then should CIOs and CTOs be expect EA professionals. It sounds like we are saying EA is everything under the enterprise technology domain and the strategic business management domain as well while we are at it.

Discussion: The Enterprise Architecture Network | LinkedIn (Enterprise Architecture at Oracle)

My take on the point made is: How far reaching is the EA role expected to be?  Is he/she expected to be all things to all people?  That is a pretty tall order.

I did a search of the web and found this *sample* job description which is interesting:

http://www.mariosalexandrou.com/free...-architect.asp

I won’t restate the description, but they define the role as “Qualified enterprise architects are a rare breed as they must understand a company's business while still being able to delve into nitty-gritty technology issues.”  It is also pretty interesting that, as I have said before, communication skills are key.

Anyone have any more thoughts?
