Congratulations to
AMP who recently won an
Intranet Innovations 2010 award! As the award states:
“Australian financial services firm AMP delivered a major new version of the corporate intranet, ‘The Hub’. It enables employees to define the news and information they see on a day-to-day basis, and features a powerful, enterprise-wide, faceted search tool, all wrapped in a truly contemporary design.”
Gruden are proud to have provided a helping hand in ensuring the success of the project.
After speaking at the
Web Directions South conference in 2009, our Technical Director, Mark Stanton, was approached by AMP team members in the audience to discuss their intranet re-development project. As per the topic of his presentation “Speed Matters”, Mark was asked to help ensure the performance of the intranet was optimal.
Through an extensive assessment of an early prototype of the Hub, we found that we could reduce the file size of an initial request by as much as 70% and load time by more than 10 seconds over a standard internet connection.
This review involved the creation of two identical sites (one as a control and the other to be modified), followed by various approaches including page profiling, analysis of image compression and of page structure, request reduction, minifying
JS and CSS, enabling GZip and more.
The analysis and ensuing report were well received and AMP used many of the findings in the final implementation.
Congratulations to the AMP Intranet team on the award.
