Default Cognos compatibility issue

Request you to please clarify my below doubts:

1)Can Cognos 7.2 talk to Oracle 10g?
Head it's not possible and we need to migrate Cognos 7.2 to higher version to interact with Oracle 10g.
If this is correct, then to which version Cognos has to get migrated? Will Cognos 7.3 has compatibility with Oracle 10g?

2)Is it possible to bridge in between Cognos 7.2 to Oracle 10g to make them compatible?

Thanks in advance.
Madan.

Default Cognos and Oracle

Hi Madan,

I'm sure that the two can talk to each other. At the very least ODBC is possible.

What might be a problem for Cognos 7.2 would be taking advantage of new 10g features like:
  • materialised views in data marts
  • regular expressions in SQL

Hope that helps,

Steve B.
