NetSuite launches OneWorld global business management offering

OneWorld combines ERP, CRM and e-commerce functionality inside a single SaaS application.

Andrew Hendry (Computerworld) 17 September, 2008 15:16:00

SaaS provider NetSuite on Wednesday launched its OneWorld business application suite in Australia and New Zealand, touting its multi-faceted business intelligence functionality delivered in a single application for running businesses.

OneWorld enables business management with a multi-company business application suite including ERP, CRM and e-commerce functionality that is delivered through the cloud.

NetSuite president and CEO Zach Nelson presented the OneWorld suite in Sydney as a solution targeting the small and mid-size business market.

He said it enables mid-market businesses with multiple subsidiaries, business units and legal entities to manage their local operations across multiple locations.

“NetSuite is a single database around which everyone transacts; not one database for CRM data, one for accounting data and another for support data - you’re running your business on a single data model, and all of it in real time …every user in the company uses NetSuite and everyone is transacting on the same customer record,” Nelson said.

The common data model allows for a 360 degree view of customer interaction between all business units, from lead generation in sales department through to invoicing.

“It really is the idea of a single system to run a business, and then you expose that data appropriately to the people who need it. The oxymoron is we call it an integrated system but it’s not. We’re not tying anything together, it is literally a single data model around which everyone can transact,” Nelson said.

Depending on the department and job function, a role-based login allows the data that is exposed to change appropriately, and can be customised and modified accordingly.

Nelson said around 20 Australian companies have already adopted OneWorld, including Carbon Planet, EcoNova, Netcat and Healthinc, and he expects the SaaS market to grow considerably faster locally than in the US as many Australian companies look to market their products throughout Asia and beyond.

NetSuite arrived in Australia in 2007, and has since grown from a staff of four to 50, with around 500 customers that represent almost 10 percent of the company’s customer base.

Nelson predicted the current economic crunch would see the popularity of SaaS grow, as more companies look to lower the cost and maintenance of their software.

“When times get tough cash becomes king, and SaaS is a much cheaper upfront alternative than traditional software.”

OneWorld is priced at $2,670 per month for functionality, and $99 per user per month. For more information visit the Web site.

Default NetSuite Australia Targets salesforce.com

PR release from NetSuite:

NetSuite Australia Targets salesforce.com Customers

NetSuite Australia is offering all salesforce.com customers the opportunity to drop their standalone sales force automation offering from salesforce.com in exchange for a feature-rich CRM solution from NetSuite at a guaranteed 50 percent off the value of their current implementation.

18 November, 2008 15:25:00

Following the initiative of its parent company, NetSuite Australia today announced an aggressive new program aimed at winning Australian and New Zealand salesforce.com customers who are eager to realise greater value from their customer relationship management (CRM) investment, as well as relief from some of the industry’s highest on-demand subscription fees.

NetSuite Inc (NYSE:N) is a leading vendor of on-demand, integrated business management software suites for mid-market enterprises and divisions of large companies.
The NetSuite RenewForce Program offers all salesforce.com customers the opportunity to drop their standalone sales force automation (SFA) offering from salesforce.com in exchange for NetSuite CRM+ at a cost NetSuite guarantees will be 50% off the value of their current salesforce.com implementation, including service and support.

NetSuite anticipates that salesforce.com customers will find a lot to like about the NetSuite RenewForce offer as they seek opportunities in this economic downturn to realise greater value across their operations. As an on-demand suite with built-in integration and business analytics, NetSuite offers substantially more value than the standalone salesforce.com SFA application and at substantially less cost. For more information about the NetSuite RenewForce program, please visit www.netsuite.com/renewforce.

The NetSuite RenewForce program is available now for a limited time only to all current salesforce.com customers in good standing. The 50% discount will apply to a comparable license for NetSuite CRM+, including customer support and implementation services.

"RenewForce ends the age of being forced to pay up to A$200 per-user-per-month for basic contact management and SFA," said Johnny Jones, Vice President International Sales for NetSuite. "In this environment, reducing costs and increasing productivity are key, and applications like NetSuite CRM+ that include—but go well beyond—basic SFA functionally enable companies to do a lot more with a lot less."

Salesforce.com customers who take the NetSuite offer receive much more than just a 50% discount and a great product. They also receive important customer relationship management functionality not found in salesforce.com, including the ability to: • Create estimates or quotes • Generate sales orders • Manage multiple quotas and forecasts • Automate support for cross-selling and up-selling • Manage incentive management (commissions) within the system without using a third product • Conduct integrated email marketing • Pre-configure dashboards for business intelligence, and more.

About NetSuite NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N) is a leading vendor of on-demand, integrated business management software suites for mid-sized businesses and divisions of large companies. NetSuite enables mid-market companies to manage core business operations in a single system, which includes accounting / enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), and Ecommerce. case study | Edible Blooms

SMALL business owner Kelly Baker knew it was time to act when it was taking to month's end to get financial reports and order volume trends.

Kelly Baker says she needed to be up to speed with e-commerce to grow her business

"The lagging reporting meant I wasn't able to make decisions quickly," says Baker, who is founder and managing director of internet business Edible Blooms.
"The e-commerce market moves very fast and we need to be up to speed with that and make sure we have all the information we need to make the best decisions to grow the business."

Baker realised the business had outgrown the existing system and was introduced to NetSuite by one of her suppliers.

NetSuite's software as a service architecture allows accessibility wherever and whenever needed, with no capital requirements to purchase and install software.

Baker, who got the idea for her business while on holiday overseas, opened the first Edible Blooms store in Brisbane in September 2005 and has created the EdibleBlooms.com website.

Edible Blooms gifts generally start at $29, go up to $189 and include fresh fruit or chocolate bouquets and biscuits.

Baker, who has a background in marketing development, was joined by her sister, Abbey, and now has about 20 staff and four company-owned stores in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

A fifth franchise store is in Auckland.

"I travel a lot between our locations and MYOB was only on one computer, in Brisbane, so when I was in Melbourne or back with my family in South Australia I had no idea of the financial performance," Baker recalls.

"We run each store as a profit centre, so we can see how they are actually performing, which was great from an analysis perspective, but it meant a lot of double-handling of information."

Edible Blooms left MYOB, Xcart and its home-grown customer relationship management software for NetSuite.

The business is using NetSuite to power its end-to-end business operations from accounting and enterprise resource planning to CRM and e-commerce.

It went live with the financial reports on July 1 last year.

"It means, when I am in Auckland, I can still see minute-to-minute the sales that are going into every one of my stores in Australia," Baker says.

"From a business owner's perspective it gives me a much more advanced level of control over my business, because it is a web-based application."

Baker spent about $40,000 on basic start-up costs, which included a lot of customisation work.

This year, renewal costs for the ongoing NetSuite licence fee are expected to be up to $13,000, which includes all web hosting.

"I was spending more than $7000 a year before just on web hosting. It is a big saving to us that we are getting a much more capable solution and it includes our hosting costs as well," she says.

Employees can also access real-time key performance indicators using role-based dashboards.

Edible Blooms' productivity has increased because it can handle more volume in a shorter time, and achieve higher production from employees across the business.

Phone orders and web orders are in sync and missing orders can be easily traced or tracked.

Customers are also sent automated order confirmations via NetSuite that details their order information and tracking number and where they can access it.

"One of the benefits is you can keep building on it and the system will grow with the business," Baker says.

The future will bring more plans to enhance the customer ordering experience, she says.

"I feel confident that because we have invested in a new system we can grow our revenue four-fold over the next few years without having to spend a lot more on our infrastructure," Baker says.
