![]() | STR introduces Self-Service Business Intelligence Platform EASIER, FASTER, and SAFER analytics and information 16/09/2008 10:27:00 Space-Time Research, the leader in Self-Service Business Intelligence for government, has announced the release of its SuperSTAR Self-Service Platform and the SuperVIEW interactive web publishing solution. The SuperSTAR Platform makes using data for statistics easier and safer for users from analysts and statisticians accessing large complex microdata to the public wanting quick interesting visualizations. STR’s SuperSTAR solution is used by some of the world’s leading National Statistics Offices (NSO’s) such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the UK Office of National Statistics, and the US Bureau of Census to collect, analyse and share data. “These organizations have challenging information service requirements,” said Don McDougall, CEO of STR. “They must provide complete, reliable data and disclosure control that ensures privacy and confidentiality. Sharing data safely within governments and to the community is increasingly important. Education, welfare, transport, finance, health, defense, and justice agencies share this challenge.” The new SuperSTAR Platform includes a Data Control Application Programming Interface (API) that provides a ‘plug and play’ approach to privacy and confidentiality mechanisms. The API allows use of STR integrated techniques, accepted protection and confidentiality products, or custom confidentiality rules. These techniques and rules are applied to ad-hoc queries on unit record and aggregate data when a request for information is processed. “The challenge in providing information about people is not just one of visualization,” said Don McIntosh, Product Director at STR. “We have a serious responsibility to support our customers’ duty to publish information about citizens, students, patients, and customers without disclosing personally identifiable information and other sensitive data. STR’s emphasis on techniques such a field level security, authentication, audit trails, as well as the new data control API, is unique.” SuperSTAR Business Intelligence provides confidentialized information that is presented to users via desk top or web-based analytics clients. Analysts and statisticians can use the well respected SuperCROSS for sophisticated tabulations of large, complex data sets. Researchers and subject experts can use the new version of SuperWEB optimized for communication and dissemination of integrated tables, charts, graphs, and maps. A new SuperVIEW visualization capability is based on a Data Access API that enables interactive web publication and visualization. SuperVIEW makes it easier for organizations to provide data and information in formats specific to topical communities and the public. A criminology research organization might provide drug use data to the law enforcement community differently that a medical institute would provide information to its members. Both require easier and safer ways to share and visualize data. STR’s platform meets the growing demand for self-service information access from users who are no longer satisfied with standard reports and want the capability to ask their own questions and use the results to feed various visualization tools. “With the new SuperSTAR platform and SuperVIEW visualization, our customers have available information discovery capabilities that allow easier, safer, informed decisions,” said McDougall. The SuperSTAR Platform has been tested with select customers and is generally available now. About Space-Time Research Pty. Ltd. | Administrator | Press Release: -- Improved Government Business Intelligence Space-Time Research – a leader in Self-Service Business Intelligence solutions for government – announced the immediate availability of its SuperSTAR suite of software on the IBM Z10 mainframe. SuperSTAR is used throughout the world by government statistics agencies for integration, tabulation, and dissemination of census data and as well as large or complex surveys. 28 May, 2009 13:37 Government statistics organisations face the challenges of accuracy, timely reporting, and interesting, informative visualisation of ever larger and more complex surveys. Census processes require near real-time quality analysis of the data collection and integration. Analysis and tabulation require high speed ad hoc processing including complex confidentiality and privacy protection algorithms. Formal report generation is required and online availability of information and interactive visualization expectations continue to grow. And these challenges of high performance, accuracy, and large data are coupled with growing budget and environmental concerns. The recently announced IBM System Enterprise Class (z10™ EC) delivers an enterprise server that meets the requirements of government statistics organisations. John Ellenberger, Vice President of Statistical Solutions, said “The z10 EC™ provides levels of performance, capacity for growth, and the security to meet the challenges of government statistics organisations. It lowers the cost of ownership and expands the use of the mainframe for a broad set of applications. The z10 is a great platform for our SuperSTAR government business intelligence suite.” The SuperSTAR platform provides an open architecture for support of privacy protection and confidentiality important in government applications. Extremely high speed tabulation for large databases, ad hoc analysis, web dissemination, and visualisation are provided by the SuperSTAR components. "This is a rapidly evolving area and demonstrates how IBM and its Business Partners are collaborating to provide organisations and their customers with a range of services, hardware and software," said Michael Graf, ISV & Developer Relations Executive, IBM A/NZ. “Government organisations need to see the big picture — the relationships, connections, direction and details so people can make informed decisions and improve outcomes. In today's economic environment, governments will continue to be pressured to do more with smaller budgets and decisions about the ongoing support, development and funding of programs.” said Graf. Qualification tests of the SuperSTAR integration on the Z10 platform were recently completed at the IBM facility in Böblingen, Germany. “We are pleased that IBM and Space-Time Research have collaborated to complete the availability and testing of SuperSTAR on the Z10 platform to support the growing demands for information within the government statistics community”, said Dieter Burget, head of the Statistics Austria IT division. “The combination helps us fulfil the role of Statistics Austria to provide reliably collected and expertly analysed political, social and economic information.” SuperSTAR products are available immediately worldwide on the IBM z10™ EC platform. Statistik Austria Statistics Austria (www.statistik.at) is an information centre serving citizens, companies, academia, policy-makers and administrators as well as international institutions, in particular the European Union. Its aim is to provide a comprehensive, objective picture of Austria’s economy and society. www.statistik.gv.at/web_en/about_us/ Space-Time Research Pty Ltd Space-Time Research provides analytics and visualization solutions for organizations that deliver data and data services. SuperSTAR empowers them with the highest levels of transparency, accountability, and security. ![]() | Middle East contract for Melbourne BI company By Gordon Peters Sunday, 29 August 2010 23:09 IT Industry - Deals Space-Time Research, a small Melbourne business intelligence solutions company, has snared a contract which will see its SuperSTAR analysis and dissemination software implemented by the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to allow research and public use of healthcare data about diseases such as congenital heart defect and diabetes. The company, which is based in the inner-Melbourne suburb of Richmond, says its solution will allow researchers to gain insights from analysis of trends from confidentialised microdata records, and that privacy protected data can be used by the hospital to share data with the public and promote awareness and understanding of disease information that could affect their lives. According to a statement from SuperSTAR, the Registries Core Facility Group within the department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Scientific Computing at the King Faisal hospital has the mission to provide high quality disease registries, analysis and administration of the registry information, and leadership in establishing the registries in collaboration with other health organizations in the region, and that researcher analysis of the registry data is expected to lead to better understanding of the cause and effects of diseases like diabetes which is a growing concern worldwide and within the Kingdom. Dr. Sultan Al-Sedairy, executive director of the Research Center at KFSH&RC said “my vision is to have a medium that will allow public access to visualizations of analyses that promote health care education. We want to understand the actions that affect the control measures associated with the spread of disease.” “This vision allowed the collaboration with Space Time Research and MIS, providing easy access to health research statistics using SuperSTAR technology.” John Ellenberger, Vice-President Statistical Solutions at Space-Time Research. “We are pleased to be associated the Dr. Al-Sedairy’s vision and believe we will not only provide self-service public access but will also reduce the cost of internal KFSH resources. Users will have confidentialised access to the data they need without requiring manual efforts to provide it.” Al Moammar Information Systems (MI) will provide the geospatial knowledge and complete the installation and support for the SuperSTAR solution, and Moufid Charafeddine of MIS said “we look forward to the integration of the SuperSTAR tabulation and dissemination system with ArcGIS 10 from ESRI to deliver a very important outcome for the Kingdom.” |
