Dell | Microsoft Reference Configuration – Performance Results

Performance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing Solutions on Dell PowerEdge Servers and Dell PowerVault Storage.

Attached is a guide that takes you through an in-depth look at the performance results achieved developing Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing Reference configurations. Find out about optimal configurations for one (1), two (2) and four (4) Terabyte Data Warehouses.

Other whitepapers are available here for the following sizes:
  • a seven (7) Terabyte Data Warehouse reference configuration using Dell PowerEdge 6950, 4 socket, AMD Opteron-powered multi-core servers, Dell PowerVault MD 1000 SCSI storage arrays and Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
  • a 10 Terabyte Data Warehouse reference configuration, then reconfigured the database in "compressed mode" and doubled the database sizes to 20 Terabytes
Note: This information is over 2 years old (September, 2007).
