UK Mental Health Service Turns to Business Intelligence

Serving a population of more than 200 million in an area that encompasses 72 square miles, Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of the U.K.'s largest centers for providing health and social care services to people with mental disabilities.

To help improve care for all that rely on it, the National Health Services Trust recently deployed a business intelligence solution, according to a Computerworld U.K. report. With the new system, hospital officials can now bring together data from various departments to gain a wider view of how certain patients are treated and cared for.

"Managers and clinicians across the trust are now able to base tvheir decisions on more timely information, that can be collated from a wider range of sources," trust IT director James Longmore told the technology news provider.
