Thumbs up Data Mashups Using Excel and Gemini

Here's a demo from Microsoft that shows the Gemini plug-in to the new version of Excel. It shows:


  • how fast Excel will work with 20 million rows of data

  • combining data from a warehouse with other 'private' data sets 

  • out-of-the-box data mining in Excel 

  • a 2 minute dashboard. 


All-in-all a pretty impressive demo that makes me wonder if this is going to make end user adoption of business intelligence suites like BOBJ or Cognos much more difficult. Is this the future of power user BI?
