| Administrator | Below is an excellent and long over-due announcement of a new vendor-sponsored prediction market open R&D discussion group! The PM Clusters [ http://www.pmcluster.com/ ] believe there are far too few social media for prediction markets. As the PM market grows and morphs, more and more diverse discussions and interactions are expected and required. We specifically urged Emile Servan-Schreiber and NewsFutures to create a new discussion group last month, et voila... http://groups.google.com/group/prediction-markets-open-discussion The PM Clusters community applauds this new vendor-led discussion focused on prediction market "R&D and theory." We suggest, encourage and expect everyone concerned with prediction market research, theory and scholarship to join and participate actively in this/our/your new discussion group. Meanwhile, the PM Clusters will maintain, sharpen and expand our focus on prediction market tools, the global PM ecosystems, case studies and business success in the enterprise, institutions, consumers, for the environment, health and civil society. The goal and outcome of your PM Cluster Group is to discover, refract, anneal and, above all, share the essential enterprise Next Practices and ecologies for prediction markets enterprise deployment, business PMs pull-thru success, collective business performance improvements and overall prosperity for all stakeholders. See: http://www.pmcluster.com/web/Next_Practices.htm The global PM community is served by an incredibly rich set of highly accomplish scholars, scientists, academics and researchers. As a normal part of the TALC and industry maturation of the PM discipline, it is natural and expected to spin-off open research and theoretical activities. While the PM Clusters focus on productive, near-term enterprise implementations and improved business performance through applied PMs and collective intelligence, it is normal, expected, encouraged and welcome that the scientists and scholars shape their (and our) PM research community. Finally, we also urge other PM providers and stakeholders to create their own open communities, social media and, specifically, user groups for their offerings. It would be great to see new vertical communities for specific industries, products, consumer markets, corporate functions, govt, consulting services and so forth. As we said back in the sixties, "If you don't like the news, go out and make some of your own!" Thanks to all. Special thanks and congratulations to Emile and NewsFutures for their pioneering sponsorship of the global PM community over the years and for this important PM growth milestone! From: Emile Servan-Schreiber, NewsFutures To: all friends of prediction markets: A number of us have been talking recently and we are in agreement that the existing forums for prediction market enthusiasts and watchers, owned and controlled by single individuals, are lacking. We think the industry deserves its own independent, open, community-owned discussion forum. As such, we have created a new Google Group dedicated to fostering and furthering high-quality open debate and communication about prediction markets: the R&D, the theory, the practice, the industry developments and upcoming events. We strive for an open discussion and we commit to run the group with transparency, openness, objectivity, and independence. But we also believe some ground rules are needed to maintain a high quality of conversation that minimizes advertising, second-hand PR, or anyone monopolizing the conversation. We think some vigilance along those lines will make a positive difference in the communication and discussion. We hope you do too!
