I agree with what the article says binboy but I think that it misses the crucial issue: how do you maintain the knowledge map?

In my experience they are great for a month or two but they become out-of-date very quickly - and so much less useful to anyone.

I think that this is true of any knowledge artifact that cannot be easily maintained. By easy, I mean automatically!
