Not exactly the first product to get these features but better late than never.

SAP Business Suite will be accessible on a range of pocket-sized devices including the iPhone thanks to a partnership between SAP and Sybase.

SAP Business Suite is designed to support a wide range of business processes, but the increasing need for mobility means that workers and managers do not have access to a PC at all times.

SAP and Sybase believe that the integration of SAP Business Suite with Sybase's mobile enterprise application platform will allow their clients to achieve productivity gains from people that are outside of the office.

The Sybase platform will allow access to SAP Business Suite from iPhone, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and other devices - in both connected and disconnected modes.

The initial focus will be on the delivery of enterprise applications to mobile devices to speed up rollout and reduce end-user training for sales representatives and service personnel.

"Sybase will enable sales professionals access to the SAP customer relationship management (CRM) solution," company officials said.

"While on the move they will be equipped with up-to-the-minute data on their customers that is synchronised with the enterprise applications, allowing the seamless execution of customer transactions as well as integration with mobile business processes."

Bill McDermott, president of global field operations and a member of the SAP executive board said "Our customers demand mobile access to proven business applications to stay connected to their customers, suppliers, partners and employees to drive innovation and productivity."
