Post SAUG 2008 Student Awards

Inside SAP 25 Jun 2009
by: Nathan Dukes

The SAUG (SAP Australian User Group) has announced the winners of its University Awards.

The SAUG works with universities across Australia through the awards program to nurture the talents of up-and-coming SAP professionals.

SAUG representative, Gail Hay, said the program opens employment opportunities and allows students to network with SAUG members.

“A number of the prize winners have been invited to various SAUG events, so they can network with the members. That gives them another opportunity to have access to the member base, and gives them an opportunity within the SAP arena,” she said.

This year’s winner from Victoria University, Niorn Suchonwanich, is now working in business intelligence in Thailand.

The program is open to SAUG member universities who have an ERP component to their student curriculum.

The awards have been running since the 2005 academic year, and this year ten universities participated in the awards.

SAUG Vice-Chair, Paul Hawking, said the original idea behind the program was to encourage universities to join the SAUG.

He said it’s a win-win situation for both the university and the user group, as the membership costs for the user group are returned to the universities through prizes given to students.

Students are awarded prizes as acknowledgment for their outstanding achievements in ERP related education, and are chosen by academic staff at each institution.

Each student has been awarded a prize of $500.

Below is a list of the winning students for 2008.
